Helen Keller Services for the Blind was founded in 1893 with the intention of helping those who are visually impaired.  They offer a variety of services for those who are completely blind, and also those who have reduced vision.  Some of their programs include rehabilitation, job placement and training programs, and orientation and mobility training for those who have lost their vision.  These services are vital for the blind, and help them on a daily basis.  Vision is something that most people take for granted on a daily basis.  Try going 15 minutes blind folded in your house and see how well you can manage.
